i started a birmingham what's on newsletter for exactly the same reason - social media broke the what's on model, and now that social media is broken too you literally have to go to the website of every theatre/arts org in the city separately to find out what to see! i think it has a real effect on audience numbers. etude has been (and is) so needed and fills some of that gap, so thank you.
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this anna! Hope you’re well and that the new year has been kind to you so far. I agree whoheartdly with this and do think a hyper local approach is the way. I remeber when I visted Glasgow this year and each pub had a whats on guide for gigs. From the smallest singer songwriter in the smallest of pub backrooms to the big stadium shows. It let me know that there was a celidh on the days I was visiting! It was such a handy guide that I know gets used. It was a no thrills one, dead simple. Send me a link to the newsletter you’ve mad, would be great to see it!
Yeah, I hope more pop up! You’re actually featured in mine this month because there was nothing for the theatre category, so I thought people could watch some online instead (: lockdown continues in the Midlands for new theatre I guess. inthebag.substack.com
