Hello everyone!
Hope you’re doing well and having a nice day.
I must admit, it’s getting harder and harder to find online performances. There’s probably a giant conversation to be had about why this is the case but for the time being I’m going to keep going. If you do have any upcoming project don’t forget to pop them in the form so I can share information about them! I’ll be starting a research programme soon exploring digital platforms which hopefully will fill the void of trying to find shows. I am also just going to share cool things that I think may have some intrest. They won’t be strictly performance based but they’ll offer something really intresting.
In the meantime, if you’d like to support my show hunting then please consider grabbing me a coffee over at ko-fi. Had a lot of no’s recently so struggling a bit so any spare change would be highly appericiated. Click here to chuck us a few quid. Also please do subscribe if you haven’t and do share etude with your friends and mutuals!

zwei zu zwei by Keshava / Tharayil
free
available now
In "zwei zu zwei", Anjali and Sumitra Keshava and Ralph and Norwin Tharayil face each other as Indian-Swiss sibling couples. Within the framework of a fictitious dance lesson, the authors try to learn forms of the classical Indian dance art Bharatanatyam from the two dancers. In this cinematic approach, filmmaker Michelle Ettlin now stages the performance as an assemblage of intimate images created during the development of the piece.

Inhabiting the interstitial zones of anime credit sequences, video game loading screens and regional train journeys, Openings !!! intensifies the gaps between the layers of animated imagery in an attempt to grasp the kinds of experience that may lie beyond human perceptual boundaries. The video follows the protagonist ‘Yourself’ as they ride local trains through intermedial landscapes. From this uniquely conceived and drafted kinetic viewpoint, fragments of different worlds segue into view, signalling perceptual ruptures that seemingly force subjectivity outside of itself, into strange new relationships of interdependency and intoxication with the moving image.
Part of the artist’s ongoing exploration of the radical potential of animation and fandom, Openings !!! rejects its own filmic boundaries, surrendering instead to the free play of a multi-planar and ultimately elusive meta-worldview.
igbo landing is in my blood memory by Jennifer Harge

“igbo landing is in my blood memory” is an extract from FLY|DROWN. FLY | DROWN is a dance folktale honoring Black women’s movement towards flight. Set in a post-Great Migration home in Detroit, MI, it is an interwoven story of two characters, elder and nyeusi, and moves between the mundane, the majestic, fact, and fable. nyeusi, a Sankofa bird from the river, and elder’s child from another lifetime, has been conjured into the home to teach elder how to remove the shame in her body in order to fly.
The performance platforms the interiority of Black women’s lives and Black aesthetic making to trace corporeal and material cartographies utilized to obtain a Black freedom(s). The home is a site to consider how Black women renegotiate their edges, rename themselves, and expand the capacity of their breathing.
Hope you find something you enjoy
